SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25: Your day is at leisure to relax or explore Papeete. This evening, join your fellow travellers for a welcome reception, dinner and entertainment. Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 26: Join a sightseeing tour of Papeete with lunch, and this afternoon board 'Clipper Odyssey' for a first night at sea.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 27: Bora Bora's central peak soars over its green-shrouded mountainous interior and palm-fringed sandy beaches. The deep indigo lagoon is surrounded on all sides by tiny white sand motus (islets), and pelagic fish, colorful reef fish, crustaceans and brilliant coral formations thrive in its waters. Explore in an open-air vehicle or by four-wheel-drive. After lunch, go snorkeling or diving, meander along hibiscus-clad lanes, or relax on a palm-shaded beach.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28: In contrast to the high islands of Tahiti and Bora Bora, Mataiva is a coral atoll. Go ashore for an island welcome celebration. Taste local tropical fruits, take a stroll or admire village handicrafts. Birders visit the local islets to view tropical species, while snorkelers explore the underwater landscape from Zodiacs.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29: As one of the world's largest coral atolls, Rangiroa has a magnificent lagoon surrounded by a coastline of small motus and populated by friendly villagers. Look for Polynesian black pearls in handicraft displays; take a glass-bottom boat ride over the pristine coral reefs; snorkel among blue-scaled parrotfish and black unicorn fish; dive in the pass; or sunbathe on one of the sandy motus.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30: Today is spent at sea. Take advantage of the ship's amenities, or relax on board and listen to an array of fascinating lectures as you sail to the Marquesas Islands.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31: In contrast to Rangiroa's sea level islets, the Marquesas Islands are high and rugged. Visit the village of Hakahetau and a traditional Polynesian marae, an ancient sacred stone temple.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1: In the mid-1800s, author Herman Melville found himself stranded on Nuku Hiva, then populated by cannibals; he recounted his experiences in his novel Typee. Today you are greeted by friendly islanders at Hatiheu and Taiohae. Witness colorful dances at a sacred marae, visit the classic cathedral, and view the island's hallmark woodcarvings. Wander through Taiohae at your leisure or hike along the rugged shoreline.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2: Beautiful Hiva Oa was the former residence of French artist Paul Gauguin and Belgian singer Jacques Brel, both of whom spent their final days in this paradise. Visit their gravesites and see some of Gauguin's vibrant paintings that celebrate Polynesian life. Swim, walk along the beach or explore the area by Zodiac.
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3: Marvel at Fatu Hiva's dramatic Bay of Virgins, where steep ridges, spires, and peaks draped in emerald tropical vegetation soar above the tranquil bay. Ashore in Hanavaevae, villagers demonstrate the Polynesian art of preparing tapa "cloth." Hikers have a chance to explore the river valley and surrounding hillsides.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4: Islanders on Puka Puka honor you with a flower lei and entrancing dances. Sample traditional coconut treats and learn how copra (the dried meat of the coconut) is prepared for its various uses. Snorkelers find a bounty of vibrant coral and iridescent reef fish, while beach walkers investigate the inter-tidal zone with naturalists.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5: Listen to entertaining and educational lectures as the ship sails through the islands and atolls of the Tuamotu Ridge. Be on deck to spot seabirds and marine life.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6: Watch for dolphin and seabirds as the ship enters Fakarava's lagoon. Visit the village of Rotoava for riveting dances and rhythmic drumming. Snorkeling is superb, and you might spot hundreds of darting reef fish amid the kaleidoscope of brilliantly hued corals.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7: Disembark in Papeete and transfer to your hotel. Relax in a dayroom before this evening's overnight flight.
